2025 Reading Challenges / Goals

Every year there’s always a lot of discourse online regarding reading challenges. There’s always the people who disagree with reading challenges as reading is a hobby and shouldn’t be made competitive. While I do agree with that, I am one of those people who loved a reading challenge. I always put my general challenge as quite low as I do love the low-stress of knowing that no matter what I will hit it. However, I do also love challenging myself on other things, regardless of if I do it or fail spectacularly.

In 2024, I really pulled back on my challenges and stuck to 4 main challenges, and I have decided to stick to those exact same challenges this year. So here you go!

Main Reading Goals:

  • Read 52 books: that’s just one a week and more than manageable for me.
  • Try new genres and things outside of your typical genre.

Challenge 1: Finish A Series Challenge

At the end of 2024 I went through and ‘spring cleaned’ my series challenge. I got rid of a load of series that I decided I was not going to finish them. If you’re interested to see which series were abandoned you can see them by clicking HERE.

After the spring clean, I am still left with 67 series that I have started and not finished, however 29 of them I have only one book left, so they are going to be the ones that I focus on. The pictures below show the first book in the series.

Challenge 2: RARE London Challenge

I will be attending RARE London in July and so I am challenging myself to read some author who will be attending the event. Here are some potentials:

Challenge 3: Read 12 Books Recommended by 12 Friends

I really love this challenge, and it really opens up my reading to new genres or books I wouldn’t usually read. I unfortunately didn’t get this challenge completed in 2024, so friends have carried over some of their recommendations from last year. I am determined to get through all 12 of these this year.

Challenge 4: ARC Catch Up Challenge

Like the series challenge, I have really ‘spring cleaned’ my ARC backlist. I had a lot of books from the early 2010s, that I received from Edelweiss. As that is a platform I no longer use, I decided to get rid of them. I am focusing purely on my Netgalley backlist and physical ARCs. The list still sits at 67 books, which is way more than I can share here. However, I have add them to a challenge on my Storygraph so if you’re interested you can have a look to see what is there by clicking HERE.

What challenges are you doing this year?

I’m Kayleigh, a teacher and blogger who is obsessed with all things bookish. I love reading YA books of all genres and I am happiest when sharing my love and passion for books.

    I need to finish TOG.
I didn’t know Dirty Blood was on your list! I’ve read quite a few series by Heather.
