Will she accept the offer before the clock strikes midnight?Sophie Beckett never dreamed she’d be able to sneak into Lady Bridgerton’s famed masquerade ball. Though the daughter of an earl, Sophie has been relegated to the role of servant by her disdainful stepmother. But now, waltzing in the strong arms of the debonair and devastatingly handsome Benedict Bridgerton, she feels like royalty. Alas, she knows all enchantments must end when the clock strikes midnight.
Who was that extraordinary woman? Ever since that magical night, a radiant vision in silver has blinded Benedict to the attractions of any other— except, perhaps, this alluring and oddly familiar beauty dressed in housemaid’s garb. He has sworn to find and wed his mystery miss, but this breathtaking maid makes him weak with wanting her. If he offers her his heart, will he sacrifice his only chance for a fairy-tale love?
I read the first two Bridgerton books a few years book and really enjoyed them. In preperation for the new season, I decided that I needed to continue. And even though the TV show is skipping a book, I certainly did not. I’m an in order kind of person… and I am so glad that I picked up An Offer From A Gentleman. Benedict has always been my favourite Bridgerton in the TV show and I love him all the more in this book. I am so genuinely sad that the show has skipped this one as I absolutely adored every moment of this book.
One thing I loved was this one is the inspiration from the Cinderella tale. This is a definite Cinderella story and I absolutely loved it. I really loved the concept of Benedict falling for a servant. I felt like it was really refreshing and new compared to the previous two books where Daphne and Anthony fell for people who were already in their social standing. I really loved this aspect of An Offer From A Gentleman.
I really enjoy how humourous these books are. With them being historical romances you still definitely see a bit of inequality and misogyny that comes with the time period, but the way Julie writes is makes you not get angry at these elements and just kind of accept them for what they are. I love the banter between the characters as it just makes this series such a fun read. I loved seeing Benedict’s relationships with his brothers in this one, their chats made me laugh out loud many times. These are not the best literary books you’ll ever read, but they’re super fun and enjoyable.
An Offer From A Gentleman was a fantastic third instalment of the Bridgerton series. I thoroughly enjoyed every moment and I will be diving straight into the fourth book. I can’t wait to see what happens between Colin and Penelope. I’ve been dying for this since the start of the series, both television adaptation and books. I can’t wait to see what happens next. If you’re a fan of historical romance and haven’t picked this series up yet, I highly recommend that you do.
