From Goodreads:
High Fantasy with a double-shot of self-reinventionWorn out after decades of packing steel and raising hell, Viv the orc barbarian cashes out of the warrior’s life with one final score. A forgotten legend, a fabled artifact, and an unreasonable amount of hope lead her to the streets of Thune, where she plans to open the first coffee shop the city has ever seen.
However, her dreams of a fresh start pulling shots instead of swinging swords are hardly a sure bet. Old frenemies and Thune’s shady underbelly may just upset her plans. To finally build something that will last, Viv will need some new partners and a different kind of resolve.
A hot cup of fantasy slice-of-life with a dollop of romantic froth.
Legends and Lattes is a book that has been doing the rounds on Booktok and Bookstagram ever since it first released. When I saw it dubbed as a cosy low-stakes fantasy, I just knew I had to give this one a go. I am such a huge lover of fantasy books, but this was definitely my first low-stakes fantasy. Usually I’m high-stakes, dramatic fantasy all the way. This book was absolutely adorable. I am so glad that I picked this one up. It’s just so cute and feel good and I really really enjoyed it.
Legends and Lattes follows the story of Viv, an Orc who decides she doesn’t want to be a killer anymore. She is obsessed with coffee… a substance she came across on her travels but almost nobody has heard of. So she decides to open up her very own coffee shop. I loved this. As a big coffee lover, I found this just so sweet and cosy and adorable. Honestly, it just made me want to drink all the coffee, and eat all the snacks!
Legends and Lattes is sweet, cute and adorable. I really loved the characters and how it is showing a more homely side to creatures that we are used to seeing in a more violent manner. It had an adorable cast of characters, a super sweet side romance. It was just so feel-good! While I probably didn’t love this one quite as much as other people did, I really enjoyed it and I will definitely be looking out for more of Travis’ books in the future.

Orcs who want to stop killing. Now there’s a story. It’s on my radar as soon as my TBR stops side eyeing me.
