5 Books You Should Listen To Rather Than Physically Read

Audiobooks are always a huge debate in the bookish world. Some love them, others hate them. I’m in the middle. In one respect I do love them, but in another respect I will always prefer to physically read. I mainly only listen to audiobooks because they are a way that I can read more when I’m otherwise busy. But despite your feelings on audiobooks, here are 5 excellent ones. So excellent in fact that I recommend the audiobooks over the physical books.

  • Illuminae Files are without a doubt the best audiobooks I have ever listened to. I actually read this series physically first, and only discovered the audiobooks after searching for the prequel and could only find it on ebook (no thank you due to the formatting) or audio. I downloaded the audiobook and oh my word it’s phenomenal. The amount of effort that has gone into this audiobook is clear and now for re-reads I will always be listening to the audiobooks.
  • Daughter of Smoke and Bone was actually one of the very first audiobooks that I ever listened to. The narrator of this one is my absolute favourite narrator. She’s phenomenal, and the absolute life she brings to these characters is unbelievable. I absolutely adore this audiobook.
  • The River of Silver is one I’m technically cheating with. It’s only available in audiobook at the moment, but my god is it a good one. I physically read the other books in this series and I’ve fallen so in love with the narrator that on my re-read I am going to listen to them. This one is definitely worth listening to.
  • The Christmasaurus… in particular the musical edition. This is a super fun children’s Christmas story and I downloaded the musical edition audiobook last year to listen to. And it just enhanced the whole experience. This is one I am going to listen to every year to get my in the Christmas mood. It’s awesome.
  • Now with House of Earth and Blood I loved the narrator. I read the book physically first and thought it was good but not amazing. I listened to the audiobook as a re-read and freaking loved it. Now with this one, I don’t know if it was the fact that I knew what happened, so it didn’t feel as slow or whether it was the audiobook but either way I adore the audio editions of this series.
