Vampire Books I Loved

October is definitely the season to talk all things Vampires! Even though, yes, vampire books were massively overdone post-Twilight, I still absolutely love vampire books. I don’t know what it is, I just love them. They’re so dark and creepy and cool. I’m currently reading a vampire book now (Empire of the Vampire) and it inspired me to talk about some of my other favourite vampire books.

The Morganville Vampires Series by Rachel Caine will always stay one of my all time favourite vampire series. While it’s a lengthy series at 15 books, I loved that it was different to other vampire series at the time. This one released around the same time as Twilight and while most series at that time focused on a romance between a vampire and a human, I loved that this one didn’t. Morganville Vampires focuses on a town that is run by vampires… evil vampires and the human inhabitants have to do whatever they can to survive. I absolutely adore this series.

Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead was one of my all time favourite vampire series. Set in a school for vampires, and half-vampires. I just loved the high-school element mixed with evil vampires, good vampires, and mortals with the strength to fight those vampires. This is still one I will happily re-read.

The Vampire Stalked by Allison van Diepen was a very different type of vampire book. It’s super cheesy but I love it. Imagine if you’re favourite character from a book came to life and fell in love with you. This is the premise of this book, where the main character’s favourite character from a vampire series, crosses over into the real world. It was such a fun read. I really like this one.

The Immortal Rules by Julie Kagawa is one of my all time favourite series. I loved the mixture of a dystopia world with vampires. These vampires are not all good. And humans are controlled for their blood. I absolutely love this series. I’m a huge Julie Kagawa fan and this series is my all time favourite of hers.

Fast forward years and years after the YA vampire craze. The Beautiful by Renee Ahdieh released. Finally a new vampire book. And it was everything I could have wanted. It is not a repeat of what’s already been done. Instead it’s a creepy murder mystery in New Orleans, that just so happens to have vampires in it. I looooove this book and I can’t wait for the third one of this series to release.
