From the author of the popular Weather Warden series comes the debut of an exciting new series set in Morganville, Texas, where you would be well advised to avoid being out after dark.College freshman Claire Danvers has had enough of her nightmarish dorm situation. When Claire heads off-campus, the imposing old house where she finds a room may not be much better. Her new roommates don’t show many signs of life, but they’ll have Claire’s back when the town’s deepest secrets come crawling out, hungry for fresh blood. Will she be able to face the town’s terror or will she drown like everyone else?
I first started the Morganville Vampires series in 2010. It was in the post-Twilight Vampire Craze, and this was without a doubt my favourite YA Vampire series. I absolutely adore everything about it, and even though it’s a huge series, I decided I wanted to re-read it. As I started this series long before I started blogging and reviewing, the majority of the books don’t have reviews from me. So as I am re-reading this series, one per month, I thought it was the perfect time to revisit and finally add my reviews of this phenomenal series.
I had forgotten how much I adored Rachel Caine’s phenomenal writing, characterisations and overall world building. The Morganville Vampires is a paranormal romance book, set in Texas. It’s set in a small fictional town that just so happens to be ran by vampires. I absolutely loved this concept 12 years ago when I first read it, and I love the concept just as much now. I love that it wasn’t romanticising the vampires. They are not good. They are not the love interest. They are evil and they are in charge and you have to step in line… or be eaten. I love everything about it.
I flew through Glass Houses. I love Claire and the gang. They’re such multi-dimensional and dynamic characters. Their development throughout the book was just amazing to relive. There was a lot that I’d remembered but also a lot that I hadn’t, so it was really fun to revisit it again, and see the beginning of this story, when you know how it ends. I had been in a major book slump before picking up this re-read and it definitely got rid of that for me.
I loved every single second of Glass Houses and it’s actually really difficult for me to not be jumping straight into book 2. And if you know me, you’ll know I don’t binge read series. I get bored stuck in the same world for too long so never binge read… so the fact that I’m struggling not to binge read these ones really speaks volumes for this phenomenal series. I can’t wait for February to dive into the next one. This series, while yes is a long one, is a must-read!

Oh I love a nice binge myself. I don’t remember this series. My series for the year is the Throne of Glass series. I have no timeline on it. I’ve over committed on January as it is.
