Five Favourite Audiobooks

I never used to be a lover of Audiobooks. They’re something I’ve tried for years and ended up cancelling and restarting my Audible membership around a million times. Then COVID and lockdown hit and while working from home, I found a love of audiobooks. And now you can never find me driving to work without one. I’m even listening to one as I write this post now. While I haven’t been listening to audiobooks for a long period of time, I already have some that are favourites. So here you go, my five favourite Audiobooks.

Memento (The Illuminae Files #0.5) by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff
This audiobook was the first one that popped into my head when I first thought about doing this post. I physically read the other books in The Illuminae Files, but when I couldn’t get hold of this one physically, I decided to try the audio. While I’d heard amazing things about the audio editions of these books, I was still not prepared for how incredible it was. Wow! It is a full cast audiobook and the actual technological voice for the AI, AIDEN, was incredible! I loved everything about this audiobook and I have since bought the other Illuminae Files audiobooks, ready for a re-read.

Harry Potter by JK Rowling
I absolutely love the audio editions of Harry Potter. I suppose you could say that this was the first audiobook I ever listened to as I remember listening to this with classmates in lessons in primary school. Stephen Fry does a fantastic job narrating this series, and honestly I just adore his voice!

The Darkest Minds Series by Alexandra Bracken
I actually listened to The Darkest Minds years ago, on one of those attempts to get into audiobooks. I loved all three of the audiobooks for this series. I think the narrator, Amy McFadden, did a fantastic job bringing life to this creepy dystopia world. I really enjoyed every moment and I really need to pick up the newest addition to this series, The Darkest Legacy, at some point soon.

Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor
Daughter of Smoke and Bone is the first audiobook where I genuinely searched the narrator and looking up more books that she has narrated. Honestly, I would say she is one of my all time favourite narrators. I loved her voice, and all her depictions of the different characters. I absolutely love her and this remains one of my all time favourite audiobooks.

Vengeful by VE Schwab
I am a huge lover of VE Schwab. I read Vicious, the first book in this series, physically. But I found Vengeful difficult to get into. After my love of Vicious, I decided to pick up the audio of Vengeful to see if that would help me get into this one. It absolutely did! I loved the narration for this one and it made me fall head over heels in love with this book.
