From Goodreads:
From New York Times bestselling authors Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff comes an Illuminae prequel digital novella that gives readers a hair-raising glimpse into the calamity that befell the invincible AI system known as AIDAN–and the daring young programmer who would risk her life to keep it from crashing.

AIDAN is the AI you’ll love to hate.

The advanced AI system was supposed to protect a fleet of survivors who’d escaped the deadly attack on Kerenza IV. AIDAN was supposed to be infallible. But in the chaotic weeks and months that followed, it became clear that something was terribly, terribly wrong with AIDAN…

Ever since I read Illuminae I had such a love for AIDEN. He is definitely the villain in the series but I loved how that villain was some artificial intelligence with a personality. From that moment I desperately wanted to find out how he became ‘damaged’. I was so sad to see Memento is not readily available in paperback. I was so desperate to read this one so I downloaded the audio.

Holy! Shit! I am so, so glad that I did. I had heard how amazing the audiobooks for this series are but I was not prepared. This has to be the best audiobook I have ever listened to. I now want to re-read this whole series on audio. It was THAT good. It was a full cast audiobook and the way they do the AI is phenomenal!

Memento was superb. I loved seeing the beginning of AIDEN. This novella was fast paced, action packed and heartbreaking! It’s such a heartbreaking beginning of this start. I just absolutely loved it. My one gripe is that I would have loved for this to have been a full length novel rather than a novella! This was fantastic and I highly, highly recommend that you read this one.
