Under-Rated Retellings

My first read of the year was Dorothy Must Die, which was a re-read and so it got me thinking about some of the retellings that I absolutely love, but don’t really get the traction that they deserve. So here are 5 of my favourite retellings that I think deserve so much more love.

  • Fawkes by Nadina Brandes – YA Historical Fantasy retelling of Guy Fawkes and the Gun Powder Plot
  • Scarlet by AC Gaughen – YA retelling of Robin Hood
  • Tiger Lily by Jodi Lynn Anderson – YA retelling of Peter Pan, told from the perspective of Tiger Lily
  • Dorothy Must Die by Danielle Paige – YA reimagining of The Wizard of Oz (more of a sequel)
  • Alice in Zombieland by Gena Showalter – YA dystopia retelling of Alice in Wonderland

I recently read a book called Once Upon A Christmas Past by Lorie Langdon. It looked at a what if the Cratchits grew up and were wealthy and there was an Oliver Twist type character and their story. I can’t believe I didn’t review it.
