Spooky Season Recs: Thrillers

It’s spooky season… I absolutely adore everything about spooky season. The cooler weather, the atmosphere, the movies… and most importantly the books. Every friday for the duration of October, I’m going to be sharing 5 of my favourite reads perfect for spooky season… first up, we’re talking Thrillers. Now, I’m not the bravest reader in the world, so I actually much prefer a milder thriller or even a YA thriller. So here are 5 of my favourite milder thrillers.

The Mindfck Series by ST Abby is more dark romance, but there are thriller aspects to it and I adored this. A series of five novellas that I devoured in two days, I couldn’t put this one down. It follows a female serial killer who is on a path of vengeance. Perfect for this time of year. You can see my review of the first novella by clicking here.

A Good Girls Guide to Murder by Holly Jackson is a YA thriller/mystery that follows Pip, a student who is investigating a cold case for her college project. But as she looks into it, there is more at play here than she thought. This is such a fun read and the start of a great trilogy. You can see my review of this book by clicking here.

Used by Kate Dunbar is a romantic suspense / thriller. It’s absolutely fantastic, and follows a young woman who is determined to move on from her horrific past and start a new life… but will the past allow her to? I loved this book. It was fantastic. Don’t Look Back by Jennifer L Armentrout is a the YA thriller that set me off on reading thrillers to begin with. I would never have picked up a book of this genre, if I hadn’t read this one first. It follows the story of a girl who disappeared with her best friend, and now she is back with no recollection of who she is or what happened. Can she figure out what happened to them, and will she survive to do so? You can read my review of this book by clicking here.

Vendetta by Catherine Doyle is more a YA mafia mystery rather than thriller, but I will recommend this book at any opportunity I can, so here we are. It follows Sophie, a young girl who is determined to figure out the secrets of the mysterious family who have just moved into the local abandoned mansion. But all is definitely not as it seems. Have you read any of these? Let me know your thoughts if you have. If you haven’t, let me know what thrillers you recommend.
