When Fran Cooper accepts a mysterious temporary job as a PA to a celebrity, she is swept off her feet overnight. Working with internationally famous singer Juliette, Fran is the person charged with getting Juliette to the Crystal Ball, the glittering event when the world’s rich and famous gather on Panarea, a beautiful Mediterranean island, for a night like no other. What Fran doesn’t know is that on this one night, everything will change for her too – that instead of standing on the sidelines, she’ll be putting on the most beautiful dress she’s ever seen and having the most unforgettable night of her life…
“I realized there are moments in our lives where we all need someone to remind us we’re allowed to be happy.”
Lindsey Kelk has been on my radar for a while. I remember getting some of her ‘I Heart‘ books about 10 years ago when they were first publishing, but I just never got around to reading them and ended up rehoming them as I didn’t think I’d ever read them. Fast forward to now, and one of my best friends is absolutely obsessed with her books so I thought I better give them a try. I decided to try the audiobook of On A Night Like This as I got it in one of the sales on Audible. I am so glad I finally gave this one a go, as I really enjoyed this one.
On A Night Like This follows the story of Fran, a woman in her late-20s who is really struggling to find world and find her place in the world after moving to a small town with her boyfriend. She is desperate for the adventures when she used to be a PA back in London. When she is offered a job for a limited amount of time in London she jumps at the chance… but will her relationship be able to survive it?
I actually really enjoyed everything about this book. Lindsey Kelk’s writing is so easy to just fall into and forget the real world for a couple of hours. I was very quickly absorbed into this book and I was enjoying every exciting moment. Her characters are instantly likeable. I loved Fran and I really associated with her. It’s so easy to feel as if you have to do things at a certain age just because it is accepted, so to see her going against that and following her heart to an unconventional job… I just adored. The wonderful Carrie Hope Fletcher narrated the audiobook of this one and I really loved her narration. This is the second book I’ve listened to narrated by her, and I really enjoyed both of them. She really brings the characters to life, and grabs your attention.
On A Night Like This is a gorgeous, romantic fairytale and I loved it. While this was my first Lindsey Kelk book it definitely won’t be the last. I was swept away into this magical tale and was really sad when it was over. That is always the sign of a great book. I can’t wait to read more of her work in the future. If you’re a big fan of romance and contemporary women’s fiction books then I highly recommend that you pick one of Lindsey Kelk’s books up, you won’t be disappointed.
“We didn’t come this far, to only come this far.”

Oh I’m so glad you have this a good review. I read her book A Christmas Wish and it was positively splendid. It was so much fun to read I think I need a hard copy for my daughter.
Your review style, as always, is what aspired to make mine. Brava!
