The second book in the beloved and globally bestselling Bridgerton Family, now a series created by Shonda Rhimes for Netflix. Welcome to Anthony’s story . . .1814 promises to be another eventful season, but not, This Author believes, for Anthony Bridgerton, London’s most elusive bachelor, who has shown no indication that he plans to marry. And in all truth, why should he? When it comes to playing the consummate rake, nobody does it better… –Lady Whistledown’s Society Papers, April 1814
Anthony Bridgerton needs a wife.
Having spent his twenties in a rakish pursuit of pleasure (whilst taking care to ensure the financial security of his mother and seven younger siblings and mother) he knows it’s high time he settled down and ensured the continuation of the Bridgerton line.
Edwina Sheffield is considered the most beautiful debutante of the current season. She is also sweet, innocent and eminently biddable – Anthony is sure she’ll make a perfectly acceptable wife and vows to make her his.
The only obstacle in his way is Edwina’s older sister, Kate. Kate is determined to do all she can to allow her sister the chance to marry for love rather than convenience. And the roguish viscount is beginning to think he may have met his match in Kate’s keen wit and sharp tongue. Until, that is, he makes the mistake of kissing her…

I was really excited to dive into The Viscount Who Loved Me as soon as I finished The Duke and I. As with the first book, I have watched the adaptation of this book through Bridgerton Season 2 before I read this one. I was really excited for this one as I adored Anthony and Kate in the TV show, and I was so excited to see them in all of their glory. I really enjoyed The Viscount Who Loved Me. Was it all I was expecting? No, but I still really enjoyed it.
One thing I really loved about this one was how different it was from the show. While many of the key aspects are the same, they also changed a lot. I loved how different Edwina was. How they didn’t prolong the romance between her and Anthony so there was more time and space for the developing hate-to-love of Kate and Anthony. I really love seeing all of the Bridgerton family moments that are missing in the show, it just gives so much more insight into them as a family and I love that.
I absolutely love Anthony, I do. His brusqueness doesn’t bother me for the most part, but there was some scenes in here where he really annoyed me. They changed them for the show, and I can absolutely see why. They definitely softened him in the show so he was much, much harsher in here. I really love him but I’m not going to lie… there was a few times I really wanted to dropkick him in the face!
The Viscount Who Loved Me was a great, enjoyable read. I really enjoyed it and I am looking forward to reading the next few books, considering I will be going in blind with no real opinion as the TV show seasons have not been released yet. If you’re a fan of historical romance, I recommend picking up the Bridgerton series.
“It was funny, he reflected later, how one’s life could alter in an instant, how one minute everything could be a certain way, and the next it’s simply … not.”

I hate how things ended for Penelope and Eloise. Eloise had her heart broken and so did Pen and their friendship was in tatters.
One of the things I noticed in watching the show was the sets, the actual sets seemed to be less well done than the first season. Especially the promenade.
