From Goodreads:
Moving to a space station at the edge of the galaxy was always going to be the death of Hanna’s social life. Nobody said it might actually get her killed.Hanna is the captain’s pampered daughter. Nik is the reluctant member of a notorious crime family. While the pair are struggling with the realities of life aboard the Jump Station Heimdall , little do they know that Kady Grant and the Hypatia are headed right towards them carrying news of the Kerenza invasion.
Hanna and Nik are thrown together to defend their home. But alien predators are picking off the station residents one by one, and a malfunction in the station’s wormhole means the space-time continuum might be ripped in two before dinner. Soon Hanna and Nik aren’t just fighting for their own survival; the fate of everyone on the Hypatia—and possibly the known universe—is in their hands.
But relax. They’ve totally got this. They hope.
“And now, born from the ashes, she’s a warrior in bloodied black.”
I first read Illuminae about a year or so ago after falling in love with the Aurora Cycle series. I was absolutely blown away by how much I loved it, especially as it’s written in a very different format to what I am used to. I absolutely flew through it, but at the time I didn’t own the second and third books. And then, story of my life, I got distracted by other books and they just went on the shelf to wait. Fast forward to now and I finally decided to pick up Gemina. Oh, my goodness! Why didn’t I pick this one up before? Gemina was even better than Illuminae!
Gemina was absolutely phenomenal! At first I was a little put off this one as it changed main characters. I’d grown so attached to Kady and Ezra that I was super sad that I wouldn’t be seeing them. I soon got over this. I fast fell head over heels in love with Hanna and Nik! I think I love them both more than the original characters and I am definitely going to miss them when I go into the third book. Seeing their flirtations and them falling for each other while trying to save everyone on the ship was just perfect. I absolutely love them.
Gemina was fast paced and action packed. I was sucked right into this story and completely obsessed over it. It was epic from start to finish. This book was filled to the brim with twists and turns and most of them I didn’t see coming at all. I was so shocked and left reeling. I couldn’t believe what was happening and I couldn’t get through this book fast enough.
Gemina was perfect. I loved every single second of it. The Illuminae Files is fast becoming one of my all time favourite series. I love how it is told through mixed media. I wish there were more books that were told like this because I absolutely loved it! I cannot wait to dive in to Obsidio and see how it all ends. This series is without a doubt a must-read!
