5 Chick Lit Books I Fell In Love With
Back before I had this blog, when I was first starting out reading I used to strictly read Adult Chick Lit books. They are the kind of books my Mum and my Grandma used to read so I started off borrowing their books. My reading tastes have massively changed now and it’s very rare for me to pick up this genre. However, there are a number of them that I still have on my absolute favourite books list. So here are five of my favourite Chick Lit books.
PS, I Love You by Cecelia Ahern is one I read about 15 years ago. I was about 15-16 and I fell head over heels in love with this heartbreaking yet beautiful book. I am still a huge fan of Cecelia Ahern and still to this day I will read everything she writes. Her books are realistic but with a touch of magic and I adore it. This story of grief and healing after the death of a loved one is still one of my all time favourite books.
Lucy in the Sky by Paige Toon is still one of my favourite books. It’s a phenomenal love story that follows Lucy who is torn between her home country of Australia (with the swoony surfer Nathan) and England where she is currently living. I have read this book 5 times over the years and it’s still an absolute favourite book of mine. When I’m feeling down and need a comfort read, this one is always mine. Much like Cecelia Ahern, Paige Toon is an auto-buy author for me.
Lost Dogs and Lonely Hearts by Lucy Dillon is one of the most adorable chick lit books I have ever read in my life. It follows a woman who is making a new start in a new town in England and she starts a dog walking business. Romance + Snowy Town + Dogs = Kayleigh’s Dream Come True!
The Flat Share by Beth O’Leary is the only one on this list that is a recent read. I read this one late 2020 and fell in love! It’s a heartwarming romance about two people who share a flat (and a bed) but at different times. They don’t meet straight away and communicate with post-it-notes and it’s the cutest thing I have ever read.
How Do You Like Me Now? by Holly Bourne is phenomenal. This is Holly Bourne’s first novel for adults and it was perfect. It’s about a woman in an unhappy relationship but is frightened to be starting again in her 30s. It was such a perfect uplifting read about how it’s never too late to start over and being happy with you is the most important thing. I loved every single moment of this one.
