What To Read After The Crown of Gilded Bones

Today is a very exciting day! The Crown of Gilded Bones, the third book in the fantastical Blood and Ash series by Jennifer L Armentrout is out! I am so excited for you all to finally read this amazing book. I know what you’re thinking… why would I be doing a blog post about what to read after TCOGB when it’s only just come out?

Well… the thing is I know you all… and I know that even if I tell you all to take it slow and savour every last word… you won’t! You’ll binge read it, just like I did back in March when I got the arc. And then you’ll be sad and filled with the post-book depression. The hangover! Which, if you’re like me, will develop into one of the biggest book slumps you’ll ever experience. No lie… I only read three books in March because I just couldn’t get into anything after The Crown of Gilded Bones! But worry not, I am here to help! I’m here to recommend some books to try to get you out of that slump! They’re very different genre books because god knows, when you’re hung over from one genre… you tend to need something different. Something you can’t compare to the epicness of what you have just read! So here are my suggestions of what you should try, in order to get over the Crown of Gilded Bones-slump.

The Flat Share is an adult romance book set in the UK. It’s about as different as you can get from the Blood and Ash series but if you’re a hopeless romantic like me, this one is perfect! It’s super cute and adorable. I fell head over heels in love with this book… and I’m not usually a contemporary lover.

Roar is the first book in a YA Fantasy series. It’s similar to Blood and Ash in terms of being high fantasy but that is where the similarities end, so it’s different enough for you not to compare them. It’s about magic that comes from storms and a group of misfits that go chasing the storms. I loved this one. And book 3 is set to be released soon! Hurray!

Sanctum is the first book in a NA Paranormal series about powerful wolf shifters. It’s a total survival story with one of the swooniest male characters ever. Get over Casteel by discovering the perfection that is Remy! It’s similar to Blood and Ash in terms of amazing romance, but different enough as it’s a different genre.

The Falconer is the first book in a YA Fantasy that’s got a very Steampunk feel to it. This has an epic badass character who, like Poppy, is quite stabby! She’s a debutante by day and a fae hunter by night. If you love Poppy’s badassery in The Crown of Gilded Bones, you’re gonna love this one.

The Mindf*ck Series I’ve left this one till last on purpose. This is legit the series that got me over the TCOGB-book slump! It’s a series of 5 novellas and is absolutely incredible. When you’re in a book slump, often what you need are nice quick reads. This is what you get with this series. It’s dark and amazing. Love stabby characters? Well, you don’t get more stabby than a serial killer with a knife. Need more convincing? How about a love story between a serial killer and an FBI profiler… who is searching for the killer, unknowing that the love of their life is that killer! EPIC!

ORRRRRRRRR……. you could just re-read From Blood and Ash, A Kingdom of Flesh and Fire and The Crown of Gilded Bones for ever and ever and ever and ever and ever!

I hope you find a way out of the impending book slump and if you pick any of these up, I hope you love them!
