If You Like This…. Try This – Vampire Edition
I see lots of ‘If you like this… try this…’ posts and I’ve always wanted to do one. This month I decided to do one but completely focused on Vampire books. They’re making a comeback and it’s almost Halloween! Perfect timing. Now, I couldn’t think of a really popular Vampire book other than twilight and that’s a little old for me now so I’ve just gone for a nice generic… if you like vampire books try these!
1. Glass Houses (Morganville Vampires #1) by Rachel Caine
Morganville Vampires is one of my all time favourite series of all time. Not just one of my favourite vampire series but just in general. I started this series back when the post-Twilight vampire craze was going on and I fell head over heels in love. Unlike other vampire series at the time this one didn’t romanticise the vampires. In this series the vampires are not great… they’re mean. They’re killers… or at least some of them. And I absolutely loved that! I highly recommend this amazing paranormal romance set in a town run by vampires.
2. Vampire Academy (Vampire Academy #1) by Richelle Mead
This one was one of the first vampire series I read after Twilight back when I was in my late teens… and I fell head over heels in love with it. Set in a school where you have pureblooded vampires, and half-blooded vampires I just loved everything. The romance, the friendships and the action. If you haven’t read this one yet I highly recommend that you pick it up. There’s also a super awesome spin-off.
3. The Beautiful (The Beautiful #1) by Renee Ahdieh
The Beautiful is a more recent vampire book and I loved it for how different it is to other YA vampire books. It reads more like a mystery with a serial killer and there just so happens to also be vampires in it. I loved how unique and amazing it was and I can’t wait to read the second book in this duology.
4. Crave (Crave #1) by Tracey Woolf
Crave is a very recent vampire romance book. I’m kind of cheating by adding this one as I haven’t actually read it yet but a lot of my blogger friends absolutely adore it so I know that it’s safe to include on these recommendations. I can’t wait to get to this one. It’s going to be amazing and I’m hoping to get to it very soon as the second book has just released.
5. From Blood and Ash (Blood and Ash #1) by Jennifer L Armentrout
You had to be expecting it from me right? A Jennifer L Armentrout book? Jen’s most recent fantasy series has creatures that aren’t called vampires but are where the vampiric legends come from so I’m counting it. It’s first and foremost a fantasy but I couldn’t think of another vampire book so it’s counting as one for this list. It’s an absolutely incredible fantasy book with amazing action and romance. An all rounder that I highly recommend.
