A nail-biting and perfectly formed Thriller for the YA BookTok generation. This is SCOOBY DOO meets WIN LOSE KILL DIE.When hot “it-couple” Brad and Shelley are brutally murdered in a manor on the edge of town, a group of teen friends investigate.
Set in Sanera, a small community in California where rumour spreads as fast as the fire on the day of the killings, the theory is the old ghoul who haunts the house after his own murder has finally taken revenge. As Cam, Jonesy, Amber and new-girl Buffy investigate, the rumour feels closer to the truth than they ever dared think possible, and as they enter the mansion themselves, the idea of splitting up to find evidence will prove to be either the best … or worst decision of all…
A guaranteed page turner full of tension and twists you won’t see coming! From BookToker Bill Wood comes SCOOBY DOO meets WIN KILL LOSE DIE Perfect for the YA BookTok generation.
Let’s Split Up has been on my radar since it was first announced. As a long time follower of Bill’s, I was so excited for him when he first announced his book deal and I couldn’t wait to get my hands on it. I am so glad I picked this one up as it was so good. I loved every single moment of this pulse pounding, heart stoppingly fantastic book!
Let’s Split Up follows a group of friends, who after a popular couple from school end up dead, are determined to find out what happened. The whole town is adamant that it’s the town ghost responsible, but they’re not sure… and they’re determined to get to the bottom of it… even if they put themselves in danger to do so.
I really enjoyed this book. While I did find it predictable and I ended up guessing ‘who dunnit’ pretty early on, I still loved every moment of this book. I really loved the cast of characters. They were adorable and just so likeable and fun to follow. Seeing the friendships and relationships develop throughout the book was just adorable and part of the reason I loved the book so much. It was so heart-warming to see. In addition to the fantastic character development, Bill’s writing style really just made this book one of my favourites in this genre. Even though it was predictable, the way he wrote it was so heart pounding and thrilling. I knew who was responsible but even still I got spooked and was like ‘omg who is going to die next’, and that just made it so much fun!
I really loved everything about Let’s Split Up, and I am super excited that there is going to be a book 2. I can’t wait to get back with this fun cast of characters for some more spooky adventures. If you enjoy a good mystery and have loved things like Buffy and Scooby Doo in the past, this book is definitely for you.
