2024 Reading Challenges

Every year, I always love sitting down and writing my Bookish Goals and Challenges. I am definitely pulling back on the amount of challenges I am going to be participating in this year as my main goal is to get rid of the amount of pressure that I put on myself. I continuously find myself racing through books and telling myself that I am not being fast enough etc with my reading and so I have decided to get rid of all stress and pressure and remind myself this is a hobby, not my whole life.

Main Reading Goals For 2024:

  • Read 52 Books, that’s one a week… stress free!
  • It’s okay if I don’t read every day!
  • Take your time with each book. Don’t rush it… just enjoy the ride!

Challenge 1: Finish A Series Challenge

I have 60+ series that I have started and not finished. Due to my determination to keep this year stress free, I am not putting a number on how many I want to finish, but rather just saying I’d like to be less than 60 by the end of the year!

Challenge 2: RARE Edinburgh Challenge

I will be attending the RARE Edinburgh event in September 2024 and so I am challenging myself to read some new authors who will be attending the event. I am very excited about this one and there will be a post coming soon, showing some of the ‘potentials’ I’m hoping to read.

Challenge 3: Read 12 Books Recommended by 12 Friends

I love this challenge. 2024 will be the third year that I have taken on this challenge, and I managed to finish all 12 in 2023. Let’s hope that I manage to replicate this. Here are the 12 books that have been recommended to me.

Challenge 4: ARC Catch Up Challenge

Much like my series challenge, this is a low pressure challenge of try and have the number of ARCs I have less by the end of the year than they are now. Currently I have a backlist of 78 pre-2024 ARCs. If I can get it to 70 I’d be more than happy with that.

That’s all my challenges for the year. What challenges do you have this year?

Amen to the ARC Cacth up Challenge! I just posted a similar one, because I need to pay them more attention. I am always aware of my series as well, I did set a goal but it is quite small and achievable because, like you say, let’s try to keep it stress free. I am still trying to see if I want to do any other challenges, because I don’t know many.
I am curious about the RARE Edinburgh one, I hope you have fun there!
