When their lips touch, will she seal his fate? From the outside, Lorelai is an ordinary young woman with a normal life. She loves reading, she works at the local cinema and she adores living with her best friend. But she carries a painful burden, something she’s kept hidden for years; whenever she kisses someone on the lips, she sees how they are going to die. But she’s never known if she’s seeing what was always meant to be, or if her kiss is the thing that decides their destiny. And so, she hasn’t kissed anyone since she was sixteen.
Then she meets Grayson. Sweet, clever, funny Grayson. And for the first time in years she yearns for a man’s kiss. But she can’t… or can she? And if she does, should she try to intervene and change what she sees?
Spellbinding, magical and utterly original, With This Kiss is one love story you will never forget.
“Whatever happens, happens. There’s no point in worrying about it until it does.”
I’ve been such a huge Carrie Hope Fletcher for such a long time, and have really loved her previous books. When I first saw the concept of With This Kiss I couldn’t wait to pick it up. One thing I love about Carrie’s books is they always have a hint of magic in them. I’m a big fantasy lover and while I do enjoy contemporary romance, ones with that hint of magical realism in are my favourites and so I couldn’t wait to dive into this one. I definitely wasn’t disappointed.
The premise of With This Kiss is so interesting. Our main character Lorelai has never been in a serious relationship. She keeps the reason why close to her chest, when she kisses people she has horrific visions of how they die. But when she meets Grayson, the one guy who she wants to be with, how can she be with the person she is falling for when everytime they kiss, she sees how they die?
I really don’t think Carrie Hope Fletcher can write a book I don’t like. I really enjoyed this one. I really enjoyed the characters and found it so easy to fall in love with them. Lorelai runs a book/movie club and I just instantly loved her. A main character who loves books is always a plus for me. I really enjoyed the friendships above all in this book. Even though this is a romance book, the friendship between Lorelai and her best friend was just incredible to read. So supportive from both accounts and I loved that. It’s so great to see positive female friendships in books.
This was such a beautiful book throughout. The realisations that Lorelai goes through about whether love is worth it was so thought provoking. I loved how she had suffered so long by herself and when she comes clean to her Mum it pretty much starts repairing their relationship. Everything about this book was just beautiful. It wasn’t my favourite of Carrie’s but it was such a great story and I would definitely recommend it to others.
With This Kiss is romantic and magical all at the same time. I really enjoyed it and it is definitely one that I will re-read. If you love romance with a tiny hint of fantastical elements then this book is definitely for you. I can’t wait to see what Carrie writes next.
“I believe that there are people in this world, multiple people, be it friends, family or partners, whose souls are made of the same stuff as yours. Like you’re all cut from the same fabric of the universe and when you find each other, something clicks into place and things make more sense than they used to.”
