From Goodreads:
’I think I’ve figured out that sometimes the best gifts in life are the ones you don’t expect…’

Follow your heart on this heartwrenching and uplifting romantic journey, from London to the Hamptons to the south of France and the beautiful Welsh mountains, from the author of Always, in December.

For as long as Cassie can remember, there had always been the three of them: Cassie, her beloved big brother Tom, and Tom’s best friend Sam.

Since Cassie and Tom’s parents had died, and Sam’s dad was never around, the three kids had stuck together like glue, getting into mischief, with Tom always looking out for Cassie, and Tom’s best mate put on earth to annoy her.

Now they are adults and nothing much has changed: Tom is sorted, cocky Sam is going places and Cassie is… well, Cassie thinks she’s figured it all out.

And then tragedy happens and three becomes two.

For Cassie picking herself up and moving on seems unimaginable. But then she finds the envelope with her name written on it, asking her to follow the clues to a treasure hunt carefully laid out for her months before. It promises to lead her to one last gift.

And suddenly what seemed like an ending just might be the beginning of something remarkable, unexpected, beautiful and new…

Last year, I picked up a book called Always, In December… and it broke my heart in every way possible, yet I loved it! I was so excited to see that Emily Stone was releasing another book this year. I couldn’t wait to see in which way this one would break me. I was so happy to see the audio edition available on Netgalley and I couldn’t wait to dive in.

First of all, the narrator… I loved the narrator of this audiobook. If you are looking for a great audiobook to dive into, I highly recommend the audio edition of One Last Gift. The narrator did a fantastic job of bringing the characters of this one to life, and she really made me feel every single emotion of each character. I will definitely be looking out for other audiobooks narrated by this narrator as she really was fantastic.

One Last Gift is a heartbreaking romance set across a number of years. I was really guarded going into this one, as Emily’s last book utterly broke my heart! I am happy to say that this one does in fact have a happy ending. It’s still going to break you and put your heart through the wringer but it does end well. This book features all of the different stages of grief and what you go through after losing a loved one who you thought would be there forever. It was so raw and real, and there were many times throughout this book that had me in tears.

I am such a huge fan of Emily Stone. I loved Always in December, and now I have fallen in love with Cassie’s story in One Last Gift. If you’re looking for uplifting books that will make you feel good, then this one may not be for you. It’s sad, and really touching. It’s about loss and how life changed after that loss… but it is also about the hope that comes next. And I loved every single moment of it. I loved that we have a happy ever after for the romance in this one too… so all you hopeless romantics, you’re safe with this one.

One Last Gift was such a beautiful and moving novel. I really loved every moment of it. Even though it was way sadder, I do think I loved Always in December just a tiny bit more, but this is the perfect read to get you through the colder months. I can’t recommend it enough.. and I will be sat dying to see what Emily writes next. It’s moving, heart-wrenching but utterly beautiful!
