Cover Change: Rebuy… or Suffer

It’s one of the things that is the bugbear of every book lover! When the publisher changes the covers of a series… particularly when they do so mid-series. The thing that frustrates me the most here is when they decide to do it when there is only one book left… just… WHYYYYYY!!!!

I am such a cover whore… it has been known for a long time that I am completely sucked in to a beautiful cover. Now because I love the covers so damn much (seriously, I have a book on my shelf that I DNF’d 5 years ago but it’s too pretty to part with), I have to have matching covers. I will rebuy an entire series, just so my covers will match.

Now, sometimes this means that I will rehome/give away the older covers but sometimes it means I have like 2 sets of books (one of them incomplete). Now, I do feel like we are in a much better position now that we were ten years ago, as there are so many amazing fan artists who are designing alternative dust jackets so we can have some matching covers. I remember years and years ago we were just stuck with either a mismatched set or having to buy the entire series all over again. I have been known to rebuy an entire set… before I’d even read the series. Yes, that is how much matching covers means to me.

What do you do? Suffer with a mismatched set… or rebuy?

Since I now read 99% on Kindle, I don’t run into this problem. But, if I did, I’d definitely be upset with it. I know they did the redesign of the ACOTAR series with A Touch Of Magic.

What I hate is when they release some of a series in Hardbacks and some in paper. Really?
