From Goodreads:
What if you met the right person at the wrong time?

Nell and Van meet as children when their parents fall in love, but soon they are forced worlds apart.

Five years later, they find each other.  Their bond is rekindled and new feelings take hold, but once again they must separate.

For the next two decades, fate brings Nell and Van together every five years, as life and circumstance continue to divide them. Will they ever find true happiness? And will it be together?

‘One day, maybe five years from now, you’ll look back and understand why this happened…’

Paige Toon has long been a favourite author of mine. From way before this blog ever existed, back before I discovered YA, or Paranormal/Fantasy books I used to devour her books as a teenager. I am still such a sucker for her books but I haven’t read any for such a long time. As part of a ‘older TBR’ challenge in March I finally picked up Five Years From Now, and I absolutely loved it. It reminded me exactly what I love about women’s fiction/chick lit books.

Five Years From Now is a meloncholy, bittersweet love story that poses the question ‘What if you met the right person, at the wrong time?’ I really loved this story. It isn’t your typical romance book, but as someone who doesn’t read romance books a lot, this was perfect for me. Not everything is always going to work out in life and that is exactly what happens in this book. Our two main characters meet as children and then life tears them apart and they only end up meeting in person every five years or so. I absolutely loved every moment of this beautiful story of friendship, love and heartbreak.

I loved the characterisations in this book. Paige did an absolutely fantastic job of making you love Nell and Van and you were dying for the next part of the book to see them together again. Are these soulmates ever going to manage to make it work when they live on opposite sides of the world. What you start rooting for in the first half of the book, is the absolute opposite of how you feel at the end. And I loved that! I’m sure some people won’t but for me, is shows how talented Paige is to make me feel all these different emotions. I felt like I grew as a person, as the characters did and that made this story utterly phenomenal.

Paige Toon is such a rare talent. I have now read around 16 of her books, and there isn’t a single one I haven’t loved. That is quite the achievement. For anyone wanting a real, heartwarming and beautiful story, I will always and forever recommend Paige Toon’s books. They’re just incredible and make you feel so very much. Five Years From Now was heartwarming and such a beautiful story. I cannot recommend it enough. I know this one will stick with me for a very, very long time.
