Favourite Reads This Quarter

Can you believe we are already a quarter of the way through this year? 2021 is already flying by! I can’t believe we’re heading into April already! It’s already looking up and things are starting to get better. The UK is starting to ease lockdown restrictions and I am finally getting back to a bit more a normal everyday routine! I’ve read so many amazing books this quarter that I thought I’d see the third month of the year out with a ‘favourite books this quarter’ blog post!

Here are my favourite books that I’ve read over the past three months! Don’t forget to tell me whether you’ve read them or not, and if you have what you thought!

Rhapsodic, the first book in the Bargainer trilogy by Laura Thalassa is a NA Paranormal Romance novel. I really enjoyed Rhapsodic. It’s very quick to suck you in and make you obsessed with the characters and the world. Our main character is a siren and our main guy is a secretive magical being known as ‘The Bargainer’. I soon became obsessed with this magical love story. It’s told in two time periods, so you get present day and what happened in the past at the same time. I loved trying to piece together what happened. I highly recommend it.

The Iron Raven, the first book in the Iron Fey Evenfall series by Julie Kagawa is a YA Paranormal Romance. This one is a new spin off to The Iron Fey. I fell in love with the original series around ten years ago and I’d always been left dying to read a spin off with Puck (Yes! That Puck! Fae trickster extraordinaire) and this is exactly what I got with this one. I absolutely loved it, it was everything I could have wanted and more. Puck gets a love interest and I absolutely loved her! It’s fantastic and I got to see all of the characters I’d already fell head over heels in love with in the original series.

Used by Kate Dunbar is a NA standalone Romantic Suspense / Thriller. This one is a debut that just released last year and I fell in love with Kate’s writing and her characters. Our main character has had a horrific upbringing, and has been left with fears and scars from her psychotic and overbearing older brother. She’s safe while he is in prison and she is finally starting to move on. But then her brother is released from prison and she finds herself terrorised once again. This book had me on an emotional rollercoaster. One moment I was swooning and the next I was so anxious and my stomach in knots. Definitely one of my favourite reads of the year so far.

A Court of Silver Flames, the fourth book in A Court of Thorns and Roses series by Sarah J Maas is a NA Fantasy novel. I fell head over heels in love with this book, it’s a fantastical journey of mental health recovery. It focuses on Nesta, who was not a very well liked character in this series. I loved getting to see things from her perspective. I absolutely loved every moment of it. It’s a raw and emotional journey of healing and learning to love yourself. I adored it!

The Crown of Gilded Bones, the third book in the Blood and Ash series by Jennifer L Armentrout is a NA Fantasy novel. As with all third books of Jen’s it’s definitely a game changer. Shit gets real, real quick in this book. I couldn’t put it down. I was just reeling from one gobsmacking moment to the next. I loved every single moment of it and I am left dying to get my hands on the fourth book!

Six of Crows, the first book in the Six of Crows duology by Leigh Bardugo is a YA Fantasy novel. I really loved Six of Crows. his book follows a group of criminal outcasts who are trying to pull of the biggest heist and break into the impenetrable Ice Court. I loved all the characters in this one and I just love the GrishaVerse. It’s a great world with so much potential.
