My Favourite Things: Dragons
It’s no surprise to anyone who knows me just how obsessed with dragons I am. Like I am OBSESSED!!! To the point where in one of my most recent reads when the author included dragons I legit had to stop reading for a while to compose myself because I was THAT excited!
So… I decided I wanted to do a post about my favourite books with dragons and some that I have recently acquired and can’t wait to read.
Favourite Dragon Books
Before we properly get into this, I just want to say that while I was going through my read shelf on Goodreads, I was actually incredibly disappointed in myself as there is actually very few series with dragons in them that I’ve read. This clearly has to change! But here you go my five favourite dragon books!
Firelight by Sophie Jordan is a YA Paranormal Romance featuring a dragon who falls in love with a dragon hunter. It’s a fantastic trilogy and I loved every moment of it. Warning for those who like to read more Adult and New Adult books with steam, this is not that! It is on the younger side of YA but the story is so strong and intriguing that you really don’t notice! I adore this one.

Frozen by Melissa de la Cruz and Michael Johnston is the first books in YA Dystopia series, Heart of Dread. I remember being completely blown away by this one as I was not expecting to see dragons in a dystopia novel, but it works so so well. The world has iced over but there is a mythical place called “The Blue”. The main character is hiding a secret identity and needs to escape to The Blue before the authorities figure out she is not quite human. It’s such an epic journey. I seriously love this series. To the point where I’m kind of tempted to re-read it.

The Priory of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon is an Adult stand alone epic fantasy with dragons. I really loved this book. It is huge… like this book is a tome! But it is absolutely worth it. It’s intriguing, action packed and features a war with dragons. What more could you possibly want? If you’re big on your romance, this one has romance but it’s very much in the background to the main story.

The Last Namsara by Kristin Ciccarelli is the first in a YA fantasy series featuring dragons and dragon hunters. This book is absolutely everything to me! It features our main character who is one of the most gifted dragon hunters. She is sent on a mission to hunt a specific dragon but when the dragon can talk to her in her head and what it says doesn’t match up with what she has always known, she has to ask herself who is actually the bad guys? The dragons or her people?

House of Dragons by KA Linde is the first in a new YA fantasy series. It follows a half-fae, half-human who wants to compete to become on of the gifted and privileged dragon riders. But she has to deal with prejudice from her peers because of her half human side. I absolutely loved this one. When I read this I didn’t actually realise it was a spin off from a previous series so I am most definitely going to pick up The Affiliate by KA Linde soon and catch up, while I am waiting for book 2 in this series.
