K-Books Top 5 Bookish Memories

Here we are… the second celebratory post and giveaway to celebrate 10 years of K-Books.

Today, I’m going to share with you my top 5 memories from the past 10 years of blogging. I am getting so emotional and thankful for all of these as I type.

  • My first ARC: Back in 2011, the year I started K-Books the amazing Entangled Publishing offered me an ARC of an unknown book called Obsidian. I didn’t know anything about it, other than it was aliens in high school. I wasn’t a sci-fi lover… I didn’t really think I’d like it, but I accepted… and read it in one sitting. Obsidian was also the first book where a quote from my review was included. It holds such a special place in my heart… and it started my JLA obsession… which is still here 10 years later. This will always be one of my favourite bookish memories ever.
  • The first time I beta read: This one is also back in 2011. I read and loved a self-published fantasy book called Eden. The author Janelle Stalder invited me to beta-read for the upcoming second book in the series. 10 years later and I still beta for Janelle. She was the first author to trust me to beta and this will always be one of my favourite memories.
  • My first book event: This one is definitely bittersweet. In 2013, I had the pleasure of attending my very first book signing. I live in a very small town in the north east of England and there are very few authors that come near here for a signing. Especially not YA authors. Rachel Caine was one of the first authors that I knew who came here. She recognised me from twitter and my blog and said she was delighted to meet me in person. She was such a lovely, wonderful and great person and I type this with a heavy heart. I will always love Rachel Caine forever. Rest in peace Rachel!
  • My first book convention: A year after my first book event, the very first young adult literature convention (YALC) happened. They didn’t know whether it would work so it was kind of like a test. It could have been the only time it ever happened… so in July 2014 I set off and travelled the 250+ miles to London to attend. It was the best two days ever and this is an event that happens every year now… and I have attended every single one. It’s the best weekend, filled with bookish people sharing their love of everything literary.
  • When I met my hero… JLA: My favourite memory from the past 10 years is, without a doubt, when I met Jennifer L Armentrout in 2016. Jennifer attended the Romance Author and Reader Event (RARE) in Edinburgh. I couldn’t not go. After being a huge fan of Jen’s for 5+ years at this point I was giddy with excitement at finally being able to meet my favourite author in the world. I mean, I totally embarrassed myself by sobbing all over her but never mind. Jen actually recognised me, left her signing table and came over and hugged me (I know right… remember when we were actually allowed to hug people?) and said how happy she was to meet me… I was an absolute mess! I love her so much!

Giveaway

To celebrate, I am giving away 3 eARCs of new romantic suspense, Used by Kate Dunbar. Check out the info below…

Heartbreakingly beautiful and completely engrossing, USED is packed full of twists, turns, and a gripping romance sure to leave readers emotionally spent and asking for more.

At the age of seventeen, after a decade of lies, hurt, and severe abuse by her brother Lucas, Sabra Valentine is able to breathe.

Lucas is behind bars thanks in large part to Sabra’s quick thinking and self-preservation—even if that’s one more secret she has to keep.

Now, seven years later, life is moving forward, and Sabra is starting to heal, live, and love again with her friends and Trevor Collins by her side. He’s tall, dark, and sexy, and he doesn’t fall for Sabra’s games. The future is finally looking bright—until one phone call shatters everything.

Used is a romantic suspense with domestic thriller elements. Please be aware that there are topics that may be triggers for some readers, and this work is meant for mature readers.

I have just finished reading this book this past weekend and let me tell you, you DO NOT want to miss this one. It is incredible. Need more convincing? Here’s some teasers I made with my very favourite quotes!

This giveaway is open internationally.

I love seeing all these old pictures of you! Baby Kayleigh 😍 I think I’ve really changed my reading habits from mainly YA to reading more NA and Adult books. Some YA is still great but I don’t actively look for it anymore.
