How My Reading Has Changed Over 10 Years

Back when I first started K-Books my taste in books was so very different to what it is now. Back then 99.9% of what I read was Adult Romance books. I has just recently discovered YA and Paranormal Romance and it was just starting to change, gradually.

Introduction to Paranormal Books
I originally would only read things like Cecelia Ahern, Paige Toon and Sophie Kinsella. They were my go-to authors, and while they still are staples on my list, they probably make up the minority of my books now. The first change that I really noticed was my love of YA. Right from the moment I discovered Twilight and then started reading other YA books such as Obsidian by Jennifer L Armentrout, Morganville Vampires by Rachel Caine and many others, I discovered that paranormal books were my favourite. I couldn’t get enough of all these supernatural creatures living in our normal world.

Discovery of Fantasy
If you have followed me for a while you will probably have noticed that 99% of the books I read are now epic fantasy. I absolutely love fantasy books but that wasn’t always the case. I used to find them too slow to get into and too complex to read. Not that I can’t read complex books, but reading is my hobby I didn’t really want to analyse and think about things… I wanted to just enjoy the books. Then Bloomsbury sent me an ARC of a little book called Throne of Glass by Sarah J Maas… I fell head over heels in love with it and never looked back. Now I don’t even need to know what the characters are called, what the story is about if it’s fantasy, especially YA fantasy I am sold… and if there’s dragons? Even better!

Now, I pretty much read anything (except horror… I’m a big baby). Blogging definitely opened my eyes to trying new genres and discovering things and tropes that I love. Now I’m pretty open minded and love so many genres. I am so glad that I discovered all of these… however, it definitely hasn’t helped my TBR.

Giveaway

Today’s giveaway is a book from one of my new favourite authors. In 2020, a good friend of mine asked if I would read a book that her friend was publishing. I agreed… fell head over heels in love with it… and now I am in her beta team. It is the phenomenal Sanctum by Hannah McBride. This is one of the best books I have read in a long time. So here you go… your chance to win a paperback copy of Hannah’s amazing book!
