“Stars will fall.”
Elara is vengeful.
Her love is in a deep sleep, trapped between the realms of life and death.
Her enemy has vanished, Enzo’s only connection to the waking world with him.
And a life that Elara has never wanted has been thrust upon her, along with a new power she can not control. Now a disgraced queen, Elara must go on a quest to find a way to wake Enzo, while also seeking help from the Titans, a league of gods who ruled the world long before the Stars.
But there is a darker power at play, one that even Ariete, King of the Stars, is afraid of. With enemies at every turn, Elara must tread carefully if she has any hope of waking her soulmate, and keeping the promise she made – that every Star will fall.
Heavenly Bodies, the first book in this series, is probably my biggest surprise of the year so far for me. I loved it so much more than I thought I was going to, so I couldn’t help but dive straight into the second book immediately. Fallen Stars picked up right where Heavenly Bodies left off, with Enzo in a magical deep sleep, and Elara doing whatever she can to try and wake him. I’m so glad I went straight into this book, as I absolutely loved every moment of it.
I really love the entire concept of this series, where you have stars being magical gods, and it being based off celestial magic. I just find it to refreshing and unique as I personally, haven’t read any fantasy series quite like this one. In this second instalment of the series, the world was definitely expanded and I loved it. We are introduced to new powerful allies and enemies, and the pacing of this book was super fast. I couldn’t stop listening to the audio edition of this book.
One thing I loved the most about this book was the introduction of new point of views. I have seen online a few people who really didn’t like this but I loved it. I feel like it added a totally new dynamic to the world and the storytelling. It added perspective of what was going on outside of Elara’s thoughts, and if Elara was separated from certain characters it was nice for us to be able to see what was happening elsewhere. My one little gripe was, as I was listening to the audio edition of this book, I’d have loved if there were a separate narrator for the different point of views. Instead it was just the one narrator for all of them, and I feel like it lost a little bit of its impact by having this.
Overall, Fallen Stars was a fast-paced, action packed ride and I loved every moment of it. I am so obsessed with this series, and I truly cannot wait to get my hands on the third book. This is such a fantastic romantasy series, where the plot is just as strong as the romance and it’s fast becoming one of my favourite romantasy series. I cannot wait to see how everything pans out in the third book. If you’re a romantasy fan but ache for just as strong of a storyline/plot, you need to read this series. I promise you won’t be disappointed.
