The final book in the swoony and high-stakes fantasy rom-com trilogy that began with Twin Crowns, about twin princesses separated at birth—from bestselling authors Catherine Doyle and Katherine Webber.
Twin queens Rose & Wren survived the Battle for Anadawn and brought back magic to their kingdom. But danger lurks in Eana’s shadows.
Wren is troubled. Ever since she performed the blood spell on Prince Ansel, her magic has become unruly. Worse, the spell created a link between Wren and the very man she’s trying to forget: Icy King Alarik of Gevra. A curse is eating away at both of them. To fix it they must journey to the northern mountains—under the watchful guard of Captain Tor Iversen—to consult with the Healer on High.
Rose is haunted. Waking one night to find her undead ancestor Oonagh Starcrest by her bed, she receives a warning: Surrender the throne—or face a war that will destroy Eana. With nowhere to turnand desperate to find a weapon to defeat Oonagh, Rose seeks help from Shen-Lo in the Sunkissed Kingdom, but what she finds there may break her heart.
As Oonagh threatens all Rose and Wren hold dear, it will take everything they have to save Eana—including a sacrifice they may not be prepared to make.
After falling head over heels in love with the first two books in the Twin Crowns series, I couldn’t wait to dive into the third book. While this is not the final Twin Crowns book, it is the final book following Rose and Wren’s story, and I couldn’t wait to find out how everything was going to end for them.
Burning Crowns picks up where Cursed Crowns left off, with Oonagh back from the dead, and hellbent on regaining power. With Wren’s magic completely absent, the twins must once again seperate. Wren must journey deep into the northern mountains with King Alarik to try and fix their mistake and regain her magic, before war breaks out in Eana. Rose must also journey to the Sunkissed Kingdom to ask for help from her beloved Shen-Lo, but will they all manage to band together in time to rid Eana of Oonah’s power once and for all?
I loved Burning Crowns. It is rare that I rate an entire series 5 stars, but this one is definitely one of those. I have rated all 3 books so far in this series 5 stars. I just absolutely love everything about it. The sisterly bond between Rose and Wren, the different romances and the magic. It truly has everything that I could possibly want in a fantasy series. Add to that, the fantastic writing from Catherine and Katherine, it’s definitely a must-read for me.
I absolutely loved the ending of Wren and Rose’s story. It was fast paced, action packed and oh so satisfying. This truly was a phenomenal wrap up for the trilogy and I’m really excited to continue the series into the companion novels, following some of the side characters. In particular, I cannot wait to get my hands on the book about Alarik, as I just adore him. If you’re a fan of fairytales with princesses, witches and deadly conflicts then this series is a must-read for you. The entire thing was absolutely fantastic, and I cannot recommend it enough!
