VISIONS OF FLESH AND BLOOD: a Blood and Ash/Flesh and Fire Compendium is a comprehensive companion guide for background, history, reader-favorite information, art, and reference materials. Combined with original short stories and scenes from some of the world’s most beloved characters, as well as never-before-seen visual enticements, it’s a treat for the senses.Told from the point of view of Miss Willa herself, the compendium acts like research material but reads like a journal and cache of personal notes, allowing the reader to revisit the characters and history they so love yet view things in a different way.
VISIONS OF FLESH AND BLOOD by Jennifer L. Armentrout with Rayvn Salvador is a must-add addition to the series that any Blood and Ash/Flesh and Fire fan will enjoy.
Visions of Flesh and Blood is the companion that every From Blood and Ash World fan is going to want to get their hands on. Before I say anything I want to really stress that this is not the next book in the From Blood and Ash series. I know it says this in the blurbs but I still just feel some people may pick this up expecting a continuation and that is not what you are getting here. This is for the lore lovers and the obsessives who just want to be able to get more information about the world and the Gods.
Visions of Flesh and Blood is not a book that you need to sit and read cover to cover. It is a book of mixed media. There is gorgeous artwork (that I can’t wait to see in the physical book as my kindle definitely didn’t do it justice), maps, pronunciation guides, lore on the world and the gods and a lot of character information. Mixed in with all of this are some additional scenes with your favourite characters and some diary entries from Miss Willa herself. I know everyone will go crazy for these new scenes and extra tidbits into our favourite characters. My personal favourite was one that included Tawny as I, personally, am just so curious about here but there’s lots in there and there’s something for everyone. If you’re the type of reader that loves their spicy scenes you are going to LOVE these new scenes. If you’re not a fan of super spicy… you may want to give the Miss Willa scenes a miss… if you know, you know!
I absolutely love that this book exists and I can’t wait to get my hands on the physical copy. I have the worst memory and often need to reread books before the next in the series because I forget everything. If you relate to this, you are going to want to get your hands on this book. It is the perfect reference book, where you can flick through and look up all the previous information you’ve forgotten. I will definitely be using this when I’m reading the next book to recap my memory. This is definitely a must-have for any lover of the series, however, if you have a wonderful memory and don’t feel like you need the recaps and all the extra lore, you would be absolutely fine skipping this one.
I will not be including a star rating on this one, as all of my ratings are based on novels or novellas and I don’t feel like any of them fit for a book like this.
