5 Books About Time Travel That Need To Be On Your TBR

Time travel books… do you love them or hate them? I am absolutely obsessed with them. I’ve always loved time travel type movies and remember watching them with my Dad as a kid, and this has translated into a love of time travel books… with romance or without, it doesn’t matter. After finishing a recent ARC that had time travel elements in it and chatting about it to my good friend Lou (you can follow her bookstagram HERE), she mentioned how much that author does time travel well as you don’t get confused with all the complex details. Then this post was born. I love time travel books, complex one and non-complex ones. Here are five of my favourites that I think should be on everyone’s TBR.

Let’s kick this off with the series that inspired this post. Only A Monster by Vanessa Len is a phenomenal YA Fantasy series where the main character discovers she is a ‘monster’. Monsters in this series are able to steal time from humans to enable them to travel all over the world, in any time period. I absolutely loved both books in this series. Be warned though, it is not a completed series. The third and final book is due to release late 2024.

The Next Together by Lauren James is a little bit different in terms of time travel, but it is one of my all time favourite series and I don’t think it get the recognition it deserves. This one is about two soulmates who come together in every time period. When they die… they are destined to meet in the next time period. It’s so romantic and so beautiful and I love every single second of this duology. It is YA and just perfect!

Furyborn by Claire LeGrand is a little bit different again. This is an epic fantasy trilogy that follows two different women in different time periods. It shows you the different times, and (apologies if this is a spoiler) it does have a little bit of time periods travelling and merging later in the series. I absolutely love this series.

Hourglass by Myra McEntire is a old school YA Paranormal Romance series that gave me some serious Lux by JLA vibes. Think Lux with some extra powers and some time travel. I was in two minds whether I should include this one as I believe it is out of print so is very difficult to get hold of. But if you can… it’s utterly fantastic!

And finally, Lost in Time by AG Riddle is probably the most complex of the books on this list. It’s the only one on the list that is an adult book and it is a bit more scientific in nature, so if you don’t like science and get confused easily this one may not be for you. But this is a thrilling mystery with murder, time travel and dinosaurs. This is one of my all time favourite time travel books so I had to include it.
