Elise Kova is an author that I have been aware of for quite a while. I’ve seen so many people loving on her books for so long, but I’d just never picked any of them up. That is until a few good friends of mine started obsessing over Air Awakens, and challenged me to read it for my ‘Read 12 Books Recommended by 12 Friends’ challenge this year. I decided to get this one on audiobook. I’ve been listening to audios a lot more this year, and you can get the whole series for one credit on Audible… Bonus! I am so glad I finally picked this book up… it was so good! This was definitely one of the series that was perfect for me.

Air Awakens follows the story of Vhalla, a library apprentice who has always been intrigued and interested in the histories of the Sorcerers, much to the horror of her friends. But when Vhalla starts showing signs of magic, she is stolen away to the Tower of Sorcerers to learn how to use her powers. But something darker is brewing, and learning her craft may be the thing that will save her… or damn her.

I really enjoyed every moment of Air Awakens. As I listened to the audio of this one, let’s talk about the narrator firstly. I loved her! She did such a fantastic job of bringing you into this world, and I really felt like I was experiencing everything along with the characters. I highly recommend the audio edition if you are a fan of listening to book, it really is fantastic! I really enjoyed the kind of ‘academia’ vibes this book had going on, with Vhalla entering a kind of school for sorcerers. I am a huge lover of academia kind of storylines, so that was perfect for me.

Air Awakens is honestly a fantastic start to what I am sure will be a fantastic series. The ending was incredible… and I am so excited to read the next book. I feel like this was all the starting points for the characters, and getting us comfortable with the world… and that shit it gonna hit the fan in the next book. I honestly can’t wait and I will definitely be diving into it soon. If you’re a fan of epic YA Fantasy series, this is not one to be missed!
