From Goodreads:
When event planner Hallie Goodman receives party-inspiration material from the bride of her latest wedding project, the last thing she expects to find in the files are digital videos from Darcy’s ex-boyfriend. Hallie knows it’s wrong to keep watching these personal videos, but this guy is cute, funny, and an astronaut on the International Space Station to boot. She’s only human. And it’s not long until she starts sending e-mails and video diaries to his discontinued NASA address. Since they’re bouncing back, there’s no way anyone will ever be able to see them… right?

Christopher Ortiz is readjusting to life on earth and being constantly in the shadow of his deceased older brother. When a friend from NASA’s IT department forwards him the e-mails and video messages Hallie has sent, he can’t help but notice how much her sense of humor and pink hair make his heart race.

Separated by screens, Hallie and Chris are falling in love with each other, one transmission at a time. But can they make their star-crossed romance work when they each learn the other’s baggage?

Space is the last thing an event planner and an astronaut need in this charming new romantic comedy from New York Times bestselling author Samantha Young.

“You shouldn’t compare your achievements to anyone else. Look at your successes.”

A Cosmic Kind of Love is a book that I had seen online a little but it wasn’t one that I was desperate to pick up. When it was chosen for one of my book club monthly picks, I was quite excited to finally give this one a go. I had read some of Samantha Young’s previous works in the past, namely her On Dublin Street series, but this would be my first of her rom-com type books. I’m so glad that I picked this one up. It was a really cute fun read.

A Cosmic Kind of Love immediately sounded like the sort of book that I would love. I was really excited to read this one due to one of the main characters being an astronaut. I have recently really fallen in love with STEM romances, and I picked this one up fully expecting this to be one of them. I do think the blurb and the cover of this book are a little misleading. While Chris is in fact an astronaut, pretty much the entirety of this book is when he is back on Earth and adjusting to life after having been in space. I was fully expecting most of this book to be about when he is in space, and I was a little disappointed that it wasn’t. I thought it was going to be a STEM romance where we found out more about the science and the job of being an astronaut and if that’s what you’re expecting too… this is definitely not that! That’s not to say that we don’t get some insight into the job and what it is like to be in space, we do, it’s just 99% of that information is told retrospectively.

This is a super cute romance book. It’s adorable in every sense of the word. I loved the whole opposites attract kind of thing and the friends to lovers aspect. One thing I adored about this book is that the characters meet as adults and then they become friends… and eventually lovers. Friends to lovers is my favourite trope in contemporary romance books, and I found it refreshing that this is one where the characters become friends as adults and you see the progression in real time. I find with most friends to lovers books, they’ve been friends since they were kids and such, so I loved being able to see and appreciate the whole progression from strangers to friends to lovers. I thought it was really well done and I loved that.

A Cosmic Kind of Love is fun, cute and such a fast read. Is it the best piece of literature that you’re ever going to read? No! But for what it is, a cute rom-com, it’s so fantastic and well done. I really enjoyed it. I forgot how much I enjoy Samantha Young’s writing and I will definitely be picking up more of her work in the future. If you want a cute romance to lose yourself in, then I highly recommend picking this one up.
