My Top 3 Witchy Books
If you had told me a few years ago that I would be sat here obsessing over witchy books, I would probably have laughed. I never used to like witch books. I remember DNF’ing so many books because they were witch books and I just didn’t like them. I don’t know what changed over the years, but now I am absolutely obsessed with witchy books. I am actively looking for new witchy books. And here are my 3 favourite witchy books. These are in no particular order, as I adore each of them.
The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches by Sangu Mandanna
I am absolutely obsessed with this book. This should be no surprise to anyone who has followed me for a while. This was my favourite read of 2022, and it definitely renewed my obsession with witch books. When I picked this one up last year, I was going through a pretty tough time, I couldn’t get into any books and I just felt pretty shit. Then I got an arc of this one, thought well let’s give it a go… and I was obsessed. I raced through it. It is so cosy and warm and uplifting. I adore every word of this book.
Threadneedle, Book 1 in the Language of Magic Series by Cari Thomas
Threadneedle is a huge book. It’s massive… and I totally get that this can be quite intimidating. I am definitely one who gets intimidated by big books, but there was something about this one that made me want to read it. While this is a large book, it is fantastic. It’s more of an urban fantasy than an epic fantasy, having it’s setting in London. I loved the British setting and the idea of these witches just living among us. It’s such a phenomenal book and I loved every single moment of it. There’s a bit of mystery intertwined in this one, and I honestly cannot wait to get my hands on book 2.

Her Majesty’s Royal Coven, Book 1 in the HMRC Series by Juno Dawson
I’ve been a huge fan of Juno Dawson for a long time. I have absolutely adored her YA Contemporary novels and so I was ridiculously excited that she was writing a fantasy novel… and one with witches?? I couldn’t wait to read it. And this book is phenomenal! I remember being absolutely obsessed with this as I was reading it. And if you are an audio lover, Bridgerton’s Nicola Coughlan narrated the audiobook and she was fantastic. I remember finishing this book with my mouth agape unable to believe what happened. I was listening to the audio… LISTENING… and putting my hands over my eyes as if that was going to stop me from being able to hear it as I was so scared of what was going to happen. Yeah… I know… not my brightest moment. But that should tell you just how much you NEED to read this book!
