It’s the golden rule of pretending to be someone’s girlfriend: don’t fall for their sister.

After a year from hell, Haf is ready to blow off steam at a Christmas party: a kind stranger, a few too many drinks and suddenly she’s kissing Christopher under the mistletoe – in front of his ex-girlfriend.

The next day the news is out that they’re apparently a couple, madly in love and coming to Oxlea to spend the festive season with Christopher’s family. But Haf doesn’t have better holiday plans and to save her new friend from embarrassment, she agrees to pretend to be Christopher’s girlfriend for Christmas.

It has the makings of a hilarious anecdote they’ll be telling for years. Until Haf meets Christopher’s sister: the mysterious, magnetic and utterly irresistible Kit. Maybe love was waiting for Haf in this quiet little town all along . . .

Make You Mine This Christmas is a book that I have had on my TBR ever since it was first announced. I met the author Lizzie years and years ago, before she was a published author and they were just the absolute sweetest at making sure nobody felt alone or anything at YALC. When I heard that they had a book releasing, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on it. I was so, so glad that I read this book. It is super cute, and absolutely hilarious.

Make You Mine This Christmas follows Haf, a bisexual woman whose life is falling apart. When faced with spending Christmas alone in her apartment, she finds herself swept up in an elaborate plan. To play fake-girlfriend to stranger Christopher. As if things aren’t complicated enough, his sister just so happens to be the meet-cute moment in a bookshop she can’t stop thinking about.

I really enjoyed this book. It was absolutely hilarious and so much fun. It’s filled to the brim with everyone’s favourite tropes. It has so many wonderful 90s pop culture references that I was living for. Haf is all of us. She’s awkward and just a little bit weird and I couldn’t stop loving her. Another thing I adored about this book was all of the representation. We have LGBTQ+ rep, we have disability rep, we have non-binary rep… and I loved how Lizzie wrote this. It was clearly not added in just to be inclusive. It was so natural to the characters. It wasn’t wrote like it was a quirky characteristic, as I sometimes find in books. It was just a part of who they were and I loved how Lizzie had wrote that!

If you’re looking for a super fun and super cute festive read, then you need to pick this one up. It was just utterly brilliant. I even adored the side characters and I am praying that Lizzie is going to write me a nice festive Christopher romance that I can dig my teeth into next year! This one is a definite Christmas must-read!
