From the New York Times bestselling author of The Love Hypothesis comes a new STEMinist rom-com in which a scientist is forced to work on a project with her nemesis-with explosive results.Like an avenging, purple-haired Jedi bringing balance to the mansplained universe, Bee Königswasser lives by a simple code: What would Marie Curie do? If NASA offered her the lead on a neuroengineering project-a literal dream come true after years scraping by on the crumbs of academia-Marie would accept without hesitation. Duh. But the mother of modern physics never had to co-lead with Levi Ward.
Sure, Levi is attractive in a tall, dark, and piercing-eyes kind of way. And sure, he caught her in his powerfully corded arms like a romance novel hero when she accidentally damseled in distress on her first day in the lab. But Levi made his feelings toward Bee very clear in grad school-archenemies work best employed in their own galaxies far, far away.
Now, her equipment is missing, the staff is ignoring her, and Bee finds her floundering career in somewhat of a pickle. Perhaps it’s her occipital cortex playing tricks on her, but Bee could swear she can see Levi softening into an ally, backing her plays, seconding her ideas…devouring her with those eyes. And the possibilities have all her neurons firing. But when it comes time to actually make a move and put her heart on the line, there’s only one question that matters: What will Bee Königswasser do?
“There is no other neuroscientist I’d want to do this project with. Not a single one.”
Anyone who knows me well will know that as of last year, romance books weren’t really my thing. While I love romance in my fantasy and paranormal and thriller type books, contemporary romance tended to bore me. But after some of my closest friends were absolutely raving about The Love Hypothesis, I picked it up… and from that moment could no longer say I wasn’t a fan of romance. It’s still not my favourite genre, but I do enjoy it a lot more now. And it’s completely because of Ali Hazelwood. Well… I couldn’t freaking wait to get my hands on Love on the Brain. This is probably my most anticipated release of 2022… and it did not disappoint. This book was absolutely flawless!
Love on the Brain follows the story of Bee. I really liked Bee. I have to say I didn’t love her quite as much as Olive and she did irritate me in places… but I still really enjoyed reading everything from her perspective. Bee is a super smart neuroscientist, but when it comes to love and interpreting romantic behaviours, she is clueless. Many times I found myself saying out loud ‘Bee for a super smart scientist… you ain’t that smart’. But all of her musings and rants were so amusing and I ended up loving her. Now Levi… Levi is just perfection. Man, I thought I loved Adam from The Love Hypothesis? I’m sorry Adam… but you are nothing compared to Levi. Levi is just perfect. Sweet and adorable and I just absolutely adore him. I’m just gonna wait around for my own engineer to come and rescue me now!
Love on the Brain was, in my opinion, even better than The Love Hypothesis. I have been in one hell of a book slump in the past few weeks but this book completely cured that. I read this book in less than a day. I just couldn’t put it down. And once I was finished, I just had the urge to read it all over again immediately. If you enjoyed The Love Hypothesis then you absolutely do not want to miss this book. Ali Hazelwood has fast become an auto-buy author for me. There is nothing this woman can write that I will not love. She makes me wish I had liked science more as a child and become a scientist!
Love on the Brain was perfection. Anything you may want in a book, this one has it. Enemies to lovers? Check! Hilarious mistakes? Check! Swoon worthy romance? Check! A dash of suspense? Check! Check! Check! I seriously loved this book so very much. I cannot recommend this book enough. You need to go and buy this one right now! You won’t be disappointed.
“There hasn’t been anyone else. Since the first moment I saw you. Since the first moment I talked to you and made an ass out of myself, there hasn’t been anyone else.”
