5 Favourite Zombie Reads

Halloween is just around the corner, and I can’t wait. Halloween is one of my favourite holidays. Although it’s no where near as big here in the UK as it is in other countries, I just love it. It’s my favourite time of year… cold weather, blankets, reading by the fire… what more could you possibly want? To celebrate my favourite holiday being right around the corner, I am sharing with you my top 5 zombie books. I absolutely love books with zombies… I just think they’re awesome and here are some of my favourites.

The Forest of Hands and Teeth by Carrie Ryan
I cannot praise this book enough. It’s just absolutely incredible. A dystopic novel following a young girl who lives in a very controlled town, with the zombies just outside the fences and gates. She dreams of escaping and finding her way to the beach and the sea but can she make it with the zombies waiting to get a bite? I loved this book! So, so much. The entire trilogy is just absolutely incredible.

Feed by Mira Grant
This list would not be complete without Feed on it. The Newsflesh Trilogy is without a doubt my favourite zombie series of all time. It’s not YA, and if you’re looking for a heavy romance storyline, you won’t find it here. This is a very scientific explanation of how the zombie apocalypse occurs… and man, it is so realistic, it’s terrifying. It’s very political and real and I loved every single moment of it.

Alice in Zombieland by Gena Showalter
What more could you want in a book than a Alice in Wonderland retelling… with zombies. This is such a fun and awesome book. Set in a world where there is are zombies but the vast majority of the world don’t know. And it’s down the group of Zombie Killers to train and kill them to protect the population. I loved this entire series… it’s utterly fantastic.

Dead Beautiful by Yvonne Woon
This one is a very underrated series. I don’t see this one around much but I read this years ago, when it first released and I truly loved everything about it. This is a truly old school YA following a girl who goes to a boarding school following the deaths of her family, and finds not everything… and everyone… are what the seam. I loved this. It’s such a unique take on zombies.

Die For Me by Amy Plum
This is another one that is a very unique take on zombies. In this one the zombies are called Revenants and their job is to save people. This is a super romantic series, set in Paris and although I read it around 10 years ago, it is still, to this day, one of my all time favourite YA series. It’s so beautiful and fantastic. A definite must-read.
