Top 10 of 2020: Top 10 Characters from Books I Read in 2020

Hey Guys,

Today I’m here talking about 10 of my favourite characters from the books I read in 2020. This list was so incredibly difficult for me to do, mainly because I’m trying to only feature each author once per list and well… I wanted to include like every JLA character. I have cheated in this one as there are two JLA characters but hey, she publishes so many books I think that’s allowed.

  • 10. Coriolanus Snow from The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes by Suzanne Collins
    • Okay before you start, I know, I know, he’s a villain. And he’s not on this list because I love him or anything like that but I just had to add him because he is such a complex and well developed character. I never loved him in Ballad like I feared I would but I just loved seeing his journey from unsure teen to the cold and calculated villain we all know from The Hunger Games. Suzanne made him such a fantastically multi-dimensional character.
  • 9. Thomas Fawkes from Fawkes by Nadine Brandes
    • Thomas is just the sweetest guy ever. He is bullied and ignored by his father because of his lack of magic and it made me feel for him. He’s also the most adorable person who falls for someone who is black and although they live in a time when this is publically frowned upon (I know, I know but it IS a historical novel after all) but he doesn’t care and would do anything for her anyway! I loved Thomas.
  • 8. Zélie Adebola from Children of Virtue and Vengeance by Tomi Adeyemi
    • Zélie is one of my favourite characters of all time. I know she got a lot of hate from a lot of people for this book and honestly there were some points where I was also like “what are you doing?” but you know what she has a lot of pressure and power on her hands and I loved her again by the end. She is fearless and kick-ass and I adore her.
  • 7. Anastacya Mikhailov from The Empire of Gold by SA Chakraborty
    • I loved Ana. I think I already loved her considering this is a retelling of Anastasia and it’s one of my favourite tales but she is kick-ass and all-powerful and will do anything to protect and save her family. She is the epitome of awesome. I can’t wait to see her grow in the next book.
  • 5. Penellaphe Bealfur from A Kingdom of Flesh and Fire by Jennifer L Armentrout
    • Poppy has fast become one of my all time favourite characters. She’s been so sheltered her whole life but she won’t let that stop her. She is so badass and she stabs first, asks questions later. I just absolutely adore her.
  • 4. Remington Holt from Sanctum by Hannah McBride
    • Remy is one of the best characters I’ve ever read. I always have a super soft spot for the good guys and Remy is as good as they come. He is an alpha while also being amazingly supportive and in my eyes, kinda feminist. He lets his love make her own choices and I can’t even tell you how much I adore him.
  • 3. Leon Twomey from The Flat Share by Beth O’Leary
    • Leon is just real-life perfection. He’s the only book boyfriend in this list that I actually believe he could be a real life guy. He’s super sweet and will do anything to save and protect his family. I loved him so much and the moment he wrote Tiffy that note of “I will never hurt you like he hurt you” I was sold. He had my heart and soul after that!
  • 2. Kal from Aurora Burning by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff
    • Kal is my favourite character in this whole series. I adore him. Who doesn’t want a sexy space elf? No? Just me? He is an alien being (I love alien books) and he is super protective and super sweet while also being an ass sometimes. I love him and I can’t wait to read more of my Kal in the next book.
  • 1. Zayne from Rage and Ruin by Jennifer L Armentrout
    • Zayne… oh my Zayne. Nobody should be surprised that Zayne was number one. Zayne has been pretty much my favourite JLA character (along with Aiden of course) for years. When everyone was pining over Roth in the Dark Elements, I was head over heel in love with Zayne. He is still my number one and always will be.

Who was your favourite character of 2020?
