Trope Wars: Fake Dating VS Forced Proximity
Welcome to another instalment of ‘Trope Wars’. There’s so many tropes that we all love and hate in books. Today I’m talking about two that are more typically found in Romance books. Let me know in the comments which you prefer…
Fake Dating
I see so much love for this particular trope on Bookstagram and BookTok. As romance novels have risen in popularity in the last few years, a lot of them tend to have the fake dating trope. I have only read a couple of them, and it’s usually a mix as to whether I like them or not. I will either love it… because it’s just too cute and they need to get together already… or I find it really irritating at how much this trope can be dragged out. Here’s a few books with the fake dating trope you can add to your TBR.
Forced Proximity
The Forced Proximity trope is one that I usually enjoy a lot more than Fake Dating. A part of this for me, is because you can often find this in both contemporary and fantasy. As a big fantasy fan, I love seeing this in a dangerous fantasy world. This is a definite favourite trope of mine. Here’s a few books with the forced proximity trope that you can add to your TBR.
Which is your favourite?

The Love Hypothesis was my very favorite. Of course, it was a total guilty pleasure when you read it from the POV of it being Kylo Ren and Rey from Star Wars. I may or may not be sorry/notsorry for that comment. Nope, not sorry!!!!!
