The Thicker The Better: Book Recommendations Over 500 Pages
We all love a good thick book… big books are amazing. To be sucked into a world and know there’s hundreds and hundreds of pages for us to live in for a while. Here are five of my favourite ‘thick’ books that I’ve read recently.
A House of Earth and Blood, the first instalment in Sarah J Maas’ Crescent City series sits at 803 pages. It’s a thick ass book and it is utterly wonderful. When I first read this book I thought it was a good 100+ pages longer than it needed to be but on my re-read, I appreciated all of the wonderful world building so much. I truly love this series and think it’s SJM’s best to date. I can’t wait for book 3.
Storm and Fury, the first instalment in Jennifer L Armentrout’s Harbinger series sits at 512 pages, which makes it just long enough to include on this list. I didn’t read this one recently, I actually read this series as ARCs when they were first releasing, but as this is my favourite JLA series of all time, I just needed to include it on this list. This is an absolute must-read.
Threadneedle is the first instalment in a new series called The Language of Magic series by Cari Thomas. It is an absolutely stunning urban fantasy, and it is 576 pages long. I absolutely loved this book, it was so magical and such a fantastic journey to experience. I’m really excited for book 2 and to see where the story, and these amazing characters, go next.
This Woven Kingdom is a thick book. It took me quite a while to read this start of a new series by Tahereh Mafi. It was pretty slow going and at 512 pages it did take me quite a while. Having said that, the world building was perfection and I can’t wait for the next book.
Last, but definitely not least, Empire of the Vampire is probably one of the biggest book on my shelf. Sitting at 739 pages, it’s a beast! But it is oh so brilliant. This is an epic, dark, and gorgeously illustrated vampire book and I loved every moment of it. I am so excited for more Gabriel in the second book.
What chunky books are your favourite?
