What To Read After The War of Two Queens
If you’re anything like me, on finishing the masterpiece that is The War of Two Queens (Blood and Ash #4) you’ll be left in the worst book slump known to man. I was lucky enough to read an ARC of this book and I didn’t read a single thing for well over a week after finishing. And if you know me, you know that’s a huge deal. I am never not reading a book.
So you bookish fairy godmother is here with the answer to your prayers. Ten amazing books that are sure to get you over this slump. I’ve picked 5 Fantasy reads, and 5 non-Fantasy reads so there is something for everyone!
If you wanna dive headlong into another fantasy world try…
- The City of Brass by SA Chakraborty is an Adult Fantasy. First in a trilogy and the series is complete.
- Rebel of the Sands by Alwyn Hamilton is a YA Fantasy. First in a trilogy and the series is complete.
- Blood Heir by Amelie Wen Zhao is a YA Fantasy (retelling of Anastasia). First in a trilogy and the series is complete.
- The Prison Healer by Lynette Noni is a YA Fantasy. First in a trilogy. The final book releases June 14, 2022
- House of Earth and Blood is an Adult Fantasy. First in a series (I think trilogy but not 100% on this). First two books are out, however the second ends in a cliffhanger. You have been warned! Next book due out 2023 (I think!)
If, like me, you need a break from fantasy after a totally epic fantasy try…
- Wait for You by Jennifer L Armentrout is an NA Contemporary Romance. Can be read as a standalone but is also the start of the Wait For You series. Series is complete and subsequent books follow other couples.
- Sparks by Wendy Higgins is an NA Contemporary Romance. It’s a standalone and is just such a fun and hilarious ride.
- The Inheritance Games by Jennifer Lynn Barnes is a YA Thriller / Mystery. First in a trilogy and the final book is due for release September 1, 2022
- The Mindf*ck Series by ST Abby is an Adult Dark Romance. It’s a series of 5 novellas (around 100-130 pages each) and the series is complete.
- Used by Kate Dunbar is a NA Romantic Thriller. It’s a standalone and is fantastic. Will do a good job of making you swoon one moment and have chills the next.
I hope you enjoy some of my recommendations and here’s to getting over that post TWOTQ book slump! Happy Reading!

Thank you so much for the reminder to read Sparks, I love Wendy Higgins’ books! And there’s so many here I still need to read too. Such a fabulous list!
