From Goodreads: The homicide beat in
Louisiana isn’t just terrifying, it’s demonic. Detective Kara Gilligan
of the supernatural task force has the ability to summon demons to her
aid, but she herself is pledged to serve a demonic lord. And now, people
who’ve hurt Kara in the past are dropping dead for no apparent reason.
To clear her name and save both the demon and human worlds, she’s in a
race against the clock and in a battle for her life that just may take
her to hell and back.

5 stars, without a doubt! This book was great! I actually loved the
first three book of this series, but it took me some time to pick this
one up, because to be honest I forgot how much I enjoy this series! And I
have to say that I hate this cover, it looks like some erotic book,
while it is everything but that. In fact it is a mystery filled book,
with some paranormal elements, a great storyline and great characters.
And I couldn’t put it down!

I actually don’t know where to start
with this review, I loved the story. There is so much mystery, always
there is some sort of murder she has to solve and every book it is done
very good. I never have any idea who the murderer is and I love reading
how the lead character gradually figures it out. Also there is one long
storyline that progresses with each book and it get’s more interesting
with every book. I really can’t wait to see what happens next!

Then
the characters, I just love the lead character. I also love her inner
dialogue and laughed out loud so often I lost count, it isn’t really a
humorous book, it is more the writing style and the sarcastic comments
that make me laugh. It’s brilliant really. The side characters are also
great, although less so than the lead character, I grow to like them
more with every book. And still there is so much myserty surrounding the
other characters and I want to know more.

Well world building
actually is something I should adress in my review of the first book
(and I really intend to re-read that one fast and write a fabulous
review of it, so that more people start reading this series). So to be
short, I love the world building. It is original and actually we get
only small pieces of information about the demons and the demon rhealm,
but still it is very interesting and done well.

Another thing I
love about this book is that the author actually has been a cop herself
and well that’s obvious in the way it is written, you get in depth
details you don’t get in other books. And I just love the fact that the
author actually knows what she is talking about, it just ads something
extra to the story.

And well I can’t write a review of this book
without saying that the ending sucked. I hate cliffhangers and this one
had a really really terrible cliffhanger. A cliffhanger that just left
me staring at the page and thinking ” no, the author didn’t end the book
here. I want to know more! I want to know what comes next. I need the
next book now!” Oke, it is official I hate cliffhangers.

To
conclude: a great book, I loved every second of it and couldn’t put it
down. I love the mystery and I just want to keep reading to figure
everything out along with the lead character. I love the story, the
characters and the world building. And the ending sucked, because it
ended with a cliffhanger.
