The sorority girls are real witches. From New York Times bestselling authors Kass Morgan and Danielle Paige comes a thrilling, dark contemporary fantasy about a prestigious sorority of witches and two girls caught up in its world of sinister magic and betrayals.
At first glance, the sisters of ultra-exclusive Kappa Rho Nu – the Ravens – seem like typical sorority girls. Ambitious, beautiful, and smart, they’re the most powerful girls on Westerly College’s Savannah, Georgia, campus.
But the Ravens aren’t just regular sorority girls. They’re witches.
Scarlett Winter has always known she’s a witch – and she’s determined to be the sorority’s president. But if a painful secret from her past ever comes to light, she could lose absolutely everything…
Vivi Devereaux has no idea she’s a witch. So when she gets a coveted bid to pledge the Ravens, she vows to do whatever it takes to be part of the magical sisterhood. The only thing standing in her way is Scarlett, who doesn’t think Vivi is Ravens material.
But when a dark power rises on campus, the girls will have to put their rivalry aside to save their fellow sisters. Someone has discovered the Ravens’ secret. And that someone will do anything to see these witches burn . . .
Wow! There are literally no words to describe my absolute love of this book. I wasn’t actually sure what I would think about this one. However, in the past I have read and loved books by both Kass Morgan (The 100) and Danielle Paige (Dorothy Must Die) and so I was excited to see what they would come up with together. This was completely different to what I thought it would be… in the best way possible.
The Ravens follows the story of Scarlett and Vivi. Two very different girls from different backgrounds. Scarlett has always known that she was a witch. She has the pressure of coming from a long list of powerful witches on her shoulders and she is determined to show them that she is the best. Vivi had no idea of her identity as a witch, but when she discovers her powers and becomes an initiate into a sorority of witches, things start getting a whole lot more dangerous. Can Scarlett and Vivi put aside their differences to save their sisters?
I loved every single moment of The Ravens. I was completely obsessed with this story right from the very start. From this first few chapters I thought this was going to be like Mean Girls with witches. Light, filled with bitchy characters and funny. It absolutely was not! This book is dark, gritty and creepy in the most perfect way. I was not expecting how dark and gritty this book was but I am absolutely here for it! The Ravens is a story of sisterhood and witchcraft mixed with evil witches, a struggle for power, murder and mystery all told in a thriller style way! It was absolutely fantastic and I can’t praise it enough. I absolutely loved every single moment!
Initially I really didn’t like Scarlett. She was the epitome of mean girl and it really annoyed me how she seemed to hate Vivi for not apparent reason at all! I definitely preferred Vivi’s point of view to start but as we got further and further into the book I started to really grow to love Scarlett. When you start to see her vulnerabilities and the softer side to her I really started to love her. I loved the friendship developing between the two of them. It was so lovely to see that sisterhood taking centre stage and meaning the most to all of the girls.
The Ravens is filled to the brim with mysteries and twists you will not see coming! I’m the kind of reader who doesn’t really theorise a lot or try to guess the plot twists however as I’ve read so many books in this genre, I do tend to guess a lot of twists before they happen. And I did guess most of them. However, there was one particular thing I never saw coming at all. I was so shocked! I for sure thought I had figured it all out, and Kass and Danielle led me to believe I had, and then I turned the page and BAM! I was shooketh!!! It was a phenomenal twist that I never saw coming and that made me love the book even more!
The Ravens was everything I never knew I wanted and needed in a book. It was absolutely phenomenal and it blew me away right from the start. I am so in love with this book and I cannot wait to get my hands on the next book. I just know it’s going to be AMAZING!! If you love mysteries, creepy books and witchcraft… this book is a must-read!
