Worst. Road Trip. Ever.

Escaping with Reid Wentworth should have been fun, but how can I enjoy it when I just (accidentally) killed someone, my mom and brother are in danger, and the Consortium is trying to enslave humanity? (Yeah, they aren’t fooling around.) So feeling something for Reid Wentworth was not part of the plan. Trying to help unite the Resistance against the Consortium means I can’t be distracted by hot boys.

The Resistance secret hideout isn’t exactly the rebel base of my dreams. A traitor there wants me dead, but we have no idea who it is. And with both the Resistance and the Consortium trying to control me, the only one I can trust is Reid. If we’re going to have any chance of protecting my family, controlling my unstable powers, and surviving the clash between the Oculi factions, I’m going to have to catch this traitor. By using myself as bait.

I read Anomaly, the first book in the Schrodinger’s Consortium duology so many years ago. I read it as an ARC and I loved it so much. This is definitely a case of one of those series where you’re waiting for the release of the next book and then you get distracted by others and just never get around to reading the sequel. Well as part of my 2021 Series Catch Up Challenge I finally picked up Enigma. I am so very glad that I did. I was immediately transported back to this amazing paranormal world and I loved every moment.

The Schrodinger’s Consortium is YA Paranormal at its best. One of the things I absolutely love about this series is that is explains all of the paranormal elements through science. As a total nerd, I absolutely loved every single moment of that. I loved how Tonya incorporated real theories and physics into this book to explain how everything could be possible. It just made the whole thing feel so much more real. As if it could actually happen to anyone in the real world, and I love when books can do that. Ultimately, I read paranormal and fantasy books for escapism, but if they can make it feel like this magic is possible it just draws me in all the more.

Enigma picks up where Anomaly left off, with our main characters on the run and in danger. Right from the very start I was thrown into this fast paced and dangerous plot and I couldn’t flick through the pages fast enough. I just couldn’t put this book down. Tonya Kuper is such an incredibly talented author and she draws you straight in to her world and make you feel like you can’t leave and you would never want to. I am a fan and I will definitely be picking up her other works in the future.

Enigma was a fantastic conclusion to the duology. It had everything I could ever want in a book. It was action packed, fast paced and swoonworthingly romantic. I really enjoyed every moment of it and highly recommend this series. If you love a good nerdy character with hilarious Star Wars and other nerdy references, this one is definitely for you! I really enjoyed it!

“Everything takes practice, and a part of practice is failing. It’s okay to fail sometimes. It means you’re trying something new or trying to better yourself.”
